SENSE RUGBY

Sense Rugby is a NDIS-friendly therapy program that uses modified rugby drills and games to help kids improve:
 

• Sensory processing

• Emotional regulation

• Gross and fine motor skills

• Focus and attention

• Social interaction

• Teamwork and confidence
   

All sessions are led by qualified Occupational Therapists, ensuring every child receives individualised support while having fun in a group environment.

Sense Rugby is designed for children, teens and young adults who:

• Find team sports overwhelming or inaccessible

• Have difficulties with attention, focus or emotional regulation

• Need help developing social skills and confidence

• Live with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, developmental delays or sensory processing challenges

 

 Sense Rugby creates a space where they can thrive and belong.

Unlike traditional team sports, Sense Rugby is built around the therapeutic goals of each participant. By combining movement, structure and fun, children:
 

• Learn through play in a non-judgemental space

• Feel part of a team and community

• Build skills that carry over into school, home and everyday life

• Gain confidence both on and off the field

We focus on inclusion, not competition – every child is celebrated for who they are.

Sense Rugby with Step Ahead OT is currently running at:
 

• Punchbowl Park (next to the canteen) – part of St Johns Eagles JRLFC
   

Children attend sessions at the same time and location as other local rugby players, creating a greater sense of inclusion and community.
